Biography

An avid photographer for more than 25 years, John realized early in his photography career that it was the faces of culture he loves most. John has traveled extensively in pursuit of this passion, capturing a wide palette of faces and places. Having ventured into much of western and eastern Europe, Southeast Asia, and a swath of the Americas, he has experienced and photographed some of the most inspiring places on earth.

John has a profound interest in nature and is an outdoor enthusiast. Over a dozen years as a wildland firefighter, it wasn’t unusual to notice John on the fireline with his Nikon suspended around his neck. His work has been published in Wildland Firefighter Magazine, Firehouse, and Wildfire Magazine among others. His clients appreciate his unique style and ability to capture the decisive moment, expression, and emotion of his subject, even when under tremendous pressure.

As a member of the National Press Photographers Association (NPPA), John has been involved with photojournalism and pre- and post production in media publications. Published on numerous occasions, his work has been well-received and respected within his professional community. John is also trained and experienced in the graphic arts, commercial printing, and digital media.

Whether it’s a one-on-one session, capturing the special moments of daily life or covering an assignment for a major publishing assignment, John’s experience and personalized attention combine to meet and usually exceed the client’s expectations.

On a personal level, John is active in various humanitarian efforts ranging from the relief efforts in Southeast Asia and Thailand in particular following the tsunami in December, 2004. Currenly he is spearheading a fundraiser for the rebuilding of children's playgrounds destroyed during the tsunami. He is also a supporter of the Airline Ambassadors, a non-profit organization affiliated with the United Nations and recognized by the US Congress. It is a network of airline employees and others who volunteer as "Ambassadors of Goodwill" in their home communities and abroad.
